About Me
Economist · Associate Professor · Seville, Spain
Bio
I am an economist specialised in public finance and labour economics, with a particular interest in economic policy. I am Associate Professor (Profesor Titular) at Universidad Loyola Andalucía and a Research Fellow at Tax Foundation Europe.
I hold an h-index of 18 (Google Scholar, 2026), with more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and over 1,300 citations. I am ranked in the top 3% of economists worldwide and among the top 50 in Spain on RePEC, and was among the top 200 young economists globally in 2024.
Previously, I worked for the European Commission for seven years — five at the DG Joint Research Centre and two at DG ECFIN — and for five years at the Austrian think tank Agenda Austria. I led several high-impact policy projects at the Commission; our work on the COVID-19 impact on household incomes was among the most-cited documents within the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility.
I am Managing Editor of the International Journal of Microsimulation and Associate Editor of Applied Economics and Applied Economics Letters. I am a GLO Fellow of the Global Labor Organization, a member of the ESCB Network on Microsimulation Modelling, and serve on the expert advisory group on migration for the Spanish Government (España 2050). In December 2025, I was invited to testify before the FISC Subcommittee of the European Parliament on the taxation of ultra-high-net-worth individuals.
